Sheila has been performing and singing from an early age. Like many artists she grew up in a musical family, therefore singing seemed the obvious path to take. Sheila is one of seven sisters who are all involved in music but it was her mother who hugely influenced her early singing and piano lessons. Sheila’s mother grew up in a large traditional Irish family where music was part of everyday life. Her father was a naturally gifted singer who sang the songs of Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra effortlessly. These early influences of Irish, folk and jazz set the scene for Sheila’s musical journey thus far.

From the age of 7 Sheila became involved with CCE (Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann), an organisation founded in 1951 at a time when Irish music and tradition were in danger of being ignored. CCE has no political or religious agenda and has grown to become a great force in Irish cultural life. Sheila was regularly seen performing at festivals in England and Ireland and held the title of ‘All England Champion’ in traditional Irish singing on four occasions and was featured on Radio Eireann at the age of 12. She was part of The Shannon Ceilidh Band with whom she regularly sang and played the tin whistle.

At the age of 18 Sheila was introduced to pianist Laurie Graham who provided her with her first jazz gig. Sheila continued to perform with Laurie at every opportunity and secured a weekly spot at the former Music Room in Staffordshire.

From the early 90’s Sheila performed with jazz/funk outfit Pazazz and The Paul Metcalfe Band. Sheila has worked with some of the finest musicians …. Ian Frost, Louis Ballestrini, Alf Middleton to name but a few and has appeared with some of the UK’s top bands … The Joe Ballanti Showband, Nearly Dan, Mach 5, The Tongue and Groove Big Band and more recently The Big Swing.

Sheila has recorded two albums …. ‘Yesterdays’ – a collection of timeless Big Band classics featuring the songs of Gershwin, Porter, Kern and many more. Sheila’s second album ‘Autumn Leaves’ is a relaxing mix of cool jazz and smooth bossa tunes. For album ordering go to Sheila’s 'Music' page. Sheila’s latest recording project combines original works and cover versions of some of her favourite folk, blues and jazz songs. The album is due for release later this year.

Sheila continues to perform on the corporate and jazz circuit and can be seen appearing with her own trio/quartet and function band ‘Rococo’.
